December 17th 2023 will mark 20 years since the birth of the Schthack PSO server. We've had this day circled in our calendar for over a year now and we knew we wanted to do something for it but it needed to be different.
Starting on December 1st, we will be celebrating a month long anniversary event, here are those details:
All PSO versions that can connect on the server can participate in this event: (DC, GC, Xbox, EPIII, BB)
We will be tracking monsters killed by every version in the game, and upon hitting certain milestones there will be a global unlock for a boost in something drop specific. This doesn't mean we are boosting rare drops, but we are boosting other things associated with drops. We will reveal exactly what those things are as we get closer to December 1st.
There are some special cases though, you can't just kill monsters in any quest or difficulty. For Episode III, all Field Character and Story Character kills count towards the goal.
On every other version of the game, we will be tracking the user's level, so for example a Level 190 character can't go into Very Hard or lower and start killing, they'll need to stick to Ultimate.
We will provide a list of quests that we will be tracking. That list will change every 10 days during the month of December. (Ex. 1st - 10th for Quest Group I, 11th - 20th for Quest Group II, 21st - 31st for Quest Group III)
Specific details:
Kills will always be tracked in freeplay, assuming you meet the level cut offs we set, note that they do not match the 20 40 80 difficulty requirements, so are a bit more lenient. These level cut offs will also be used for quests. Challenge Mode (C-Mode) kills intend to be tracked for the entire month as to not disparage players from playing C-Mode, obviously the level cut offs are not used for C-Mode.
You might be wondering, what happens if a higher level player joins your lower difficulty game? The kills up until the higher level player joins the game will count, everything after will not.
The kills are tracked by the team. Once the team disbands, the server will collect the information and the # of monsters killed in that game and get added to the global total.
We are still formulating the Kill Requirements for the unlock bonuses so we will post them once we are ready to. We have at least 10 unlock bonuses planned.
