Hello all. I'm new to the community, but an avid fan of PSO and played the GCN version heavily back in the day. I've since gotten back into it, playing a little BB here and there. But really want to get into the GCN version again. I enjoy kicking back with the console version over the PC edition.

I have a GCN with the broadband adapter and am ready to go, but I'm looking to find out which edition is the best to go with when looking to play on this server. From the connection guide, it appears that versions 1.0 and 1.1 (Non-Plus) of the game are fairly straight-forward in their connection process, and I assume this is because of the loopholes they had way back in the day. Plus (1.2) seems to require several work arounds and additional steps. So should I just spare myself the headache and get a Non-Plus version of the game?

The only things I believe I miss out on are a few bug fixes and a couple of the online only quests being available for offline play.

Any advice on the subject would be very helpful, even if it's showing that the Plus version isn't as difficult in the connection process as I think it is. Thanks all and happy hunting!

I had no problem running Plus before the server crashed. Basically Plus does these:

*Fixes a save bug

*Closes the loophole where you could plug it into a local LAN or router and trick it into thinking it's online when it's really not, thereby unlocking content

*Has the East, West, and Control Tower quests available offline, leading to Seat of the Heart also being available offline.

If there's anything I missed, let me know.

I picked up this version and sold my standard version literally three days before I found this server in 08. :evil: Oh well, my ex had gotten me both copies and I found Plus for less than $20, so I was happy. I think we traded in the standard version for something like $40 because GC copies commanded a high price even then. Either version should work fine once they fix the DNS issues.

Thanks for the info. I went ahead and picked up a copy of just vanilla 1&2 from a local game shop that had it for $40. Don't want to spend the $100+ on the Plus version for only those minor updates.

Currently playing offline and setup my registration on the site. So should be hopping online soon!

On a side-note, PAL PSO has some of the fixes from Plus applied - but not all of them. As such there is no Plus release in the PAL territories.

Most of the PSO Plus fixes were minor stuff such as the saving, some enemy attacks and some glitches, such as presents not retaining their correct colours and a glitch which could be used to duplicate items.

Good info to know, but I'm US (NTSC-U), so the Plus version will still be floating out there for me to get if I ever need/want the upgrade.
