As many of you know, back in the day we used to have several tools to export snapshots from our memory cards. One was PSO Proxy (https://psoproxy.sourceforge.net/) (which is still available and works on Win10) and the other was the wonderful http://pso.donut-dhs.org, which was able to take snapshots from DC and GC and send them back to you via email.
I just decided to restart playing Episode 1&2 on my GC and since I still have my connection config to connect to http://pso.donut-dhs.org I decided to give it a go, however it seems that it has been down for some time now
I figured that it shouldn't be too hard to replicate it and that it made up for a nice weekend project, so I did just that, and the result is now up and running for every GC user to use.
The project is open source and available on Github: https://github.com/sbarrio/pso_photo_uploader
You can either download it and run it locally from your machine or you can use the instance I set up here: http://103.45.245.145:3000
Setup
Same as with pso.donut, all you need to do is create/reuse a connection profile and leave everything in automatic/default, and at the screen asking for a proxy introduce the following:
Proxy adress: 103.45.245.145
Port: 3000
Note: Be careful not to delete your usual connection info or you'll have to reintroduce it when you want to connect back to Schtserv again.
With that done, you just access Webpage from the main menu, tap anywhere on the HL screen and connect. You should be taken to the main upload page from where you just select your Episode and then upload your snapshot.
You'll be provided with a QR code linking to your image, so you can just snap a picture with your smartphone to fetch the picture. Also, you can access the Upload server http://103.45.245.145:3000 from a computer and go to Gallery (http://103.45.245.145:3000/gallery). Your snapshot will be there too.
Since I don't expect much traffic I've set snapshots to get deleted after a week.
And that's it, I hope this service gets some use from the community. For the moment I'm just happy to have made my contribution in restoring a tiny piece of PSO history
Please let me know if you have trouble connecting or using the service.
Cheers!
